Universal Movement has become noted for their outstanding performances and continues to dazzle their audiences resulting in returned engagements. These are experiences that will enhance their overall development as an artist as well as instill the characteristics necessary to be successful in today’s world. Members are exposed to various levels of talent learn the art of good sportsmanship, and the power of teamwork. Our positive structured environment allows our members to soar on an individual pace.

In addition to each performer’s training, Universal Movement intensifies the development of technical and artistic skills, as well as the professional discipline and passion for the performing arts. We at MJPAA consider participation in our company to be a reflection of our Academy’s solid reputation for quality, not simply in the training of our students, but on how we influence them as people. Universal Movement holds auditions for the company on an annual basis. Our company provides a family oriented environment with age appropriate choreography. The Universal Movement Performing Arts Company (UM) was founded by its Artistic Director, Mary Jo Scanio, in 1984. The company was formed to provide performing and competition experience on a group and individual basis for the promising students of the Tampa Bay area, as well as to contribute to the cultural development of our community.
